In Honor of My Brother David w/ Sermon

Minister Guy C. LaMar and brother David

by Guy LaMar

AT MY brother David's funeral - I was going to speak, but I felt it was best that I not try. I had no doubt I'd been overtaken by emotion.

So, I wrote something up for the preacher to read. And I thought that he was going to read it. I was expecting him to read it, but he didn't.

It's understandable how things get changed around due to cost and such for a funeral. But, there was a lot more to it than that.

I was allowed to bring in a preacher but wasn't able to get one to come and read what I had written. I should have just tried to speak. Well, old water under the bridge now. There is no need in addressing the matter, nothing good will come from it.

Some people are honored in death as they were in life by those who will be in control over their funeral.

I knew what my brother wanted for his funeral. So I wrote it down and shared it, but it was disregarded. I was NOT in control. All I could do was try and share his wishes. In fact, I video recorded him telling me.

Well, the sister and brother I grew up with are now gone. The ones I made memories with are no longer.

Regardless - I want to share what was written TO HONOR MY BROTHER DAVID.

Noting some of the greatest acts of David's life. Glorifying the greatest gift God has ever given us.

Here is that message:

FOR A good long while David fought a long hard battle against his declining health.

He fought the good fight. He tried to survive, but when he saw that he was at the end of his road he displayed great courage.

As the apostle Paul said in 2 Timothy 4:7 - "I have fought the good fight, ... I have kept the faith."

David fought the good fight. He finished his life's course and died in the faith.

On June 26th at around 6:45 PM David did the greatest thing that he could ever do in his entire life! He repented of all his past sins.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ says in Luke 15:10 - "'Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.'"

And he was then baptized into the glorious Body of Christ!

After the baptism, David was in uncontrollable tears. And then, David and his brother Guy hugged and talked about the eternal joy that was ahead.

David had found great comfort in knowing that this fleshly end is just the beginning of eternity in a neverending time of love, peace, and joy.

According to God's living word - the Holy Bible - because David did what the Word said to do: by repenting and being baptized, which placed him in the Body of Christ which makes him one of the saints of God.

Psalm 116:15 - "Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints."

David is now secure in the LORD.

Only God Almighty knows anyone's heart.

No one can judge another when it comes to how sincere they are toward God.

David did what the LORD our God said to do.

So, that's that.

We will close with this fitting Scripture -

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2) He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3) He restores my [life]; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. 4) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. 6) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD FOREVER." - Psalm 23:1-6.

Just what does it mean to repent? Is real repentance just an emotional feeling? Is it just merely feeling sorry for having made some mistakes in life!? What is God's definition of true repentance? Minister Michael C. Garrett examines what true repentance is and is not, detailing what God's definition of real repentance truly is.

Baptism is commanded by God for salvation – but, there is a proper way to be baptized. In this article, Minister Guy LaMar goes over the fact that not only is baptism required for salvation but that there is a right and wrong way to be baptized.

1st John 3, verse 4 defines sin as the transgression of the Law! Transgressing the very LAW OF GOD - the Ten Commandments. SIN IS LAWLESSNESS! The apostle Paul wrote that the wages of sin is DEATH. And we would not have known what sin is except for the LAW OF GOD. Also, the apostle James describes for us just how sin develops and is born - James 1:14-15. Minister Leonard V. Johnson goes over these and much more in this sermon, recorded for March 5th, 2022.

If God knew that man would “fall from grace” – as they use the term– then what chance did mankind really have against these insurmountable odds against Satan the devil!? ... If God did see that we would eventually “fall” under the weight of sin, did He have a plan that would somehow rectify the situation?

God Almighty and Jesus Christ are preparing a few – part of which is why you are reading this today. Now, He has called a few through these nearly six-thousand years to follow the Second Adam – Jesus Christ.
