Does the LORD God Truly Want To Forgive You?

by Leonard V Johnson

Will all your sins be forgiven? Is forgiving all your sins part of God’s Master Plan… From the Beginning?

Does the LORD God genuinely want you to be saved?

Yes!

Notice what the apostle Paul was inspired to write ──

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made FOR ALL MEN, 2) for kings [for presidents, prime ministers, and the like] and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all goodness and reverence. 3) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4) WHO DESIRES ALL MEN TO BE SAVED and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” – 1 Timothy 2:1-4.

Nearly 6,000 years ago Lucifer (now known as Satan the Devil) began his deception of mankind (cf. Genesis 3:1-4; Revelation 12:9), and from that point mankind was cut-off from the LORD God (the Elohim; the family of God which at this time consists of God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ) ──

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16) For ALL that is in the world ── the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the PRIDE of life ── is not of the Father but is of the world. 17) And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does THE WILL OF GOD abides forever.” – 1 John 2:15-17.

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3) as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4) by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of THE DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” – 2 Peter 1:2-4.

All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's glory ── Romans 3:23.

And when the time was fulfilled ──

’ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes [on] Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’ – John 3:16.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9) If we confess our sins [to God our Father and God our Savior], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:8-9.

Yes! The LORD God will forgive you if you truly repent and confess your sins to Them!

TheUnpardonable Sin

Now is there a sin that WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN?

Our Lord Jesus says, “Yes!”

What is the unpardonable sin? Well, simply put ── it’s the blasphemy against God’s Spirit. Rejecting God’s Spirit. Those who have turned their back on the LORD God, having driven out the Spirit of God out of them ──

’ Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32) ANYONE who [commands] a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but WHOEVER [commands] against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.’ – Matthew 12:31-32.

“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by [which] you were sealed for the day of redemption [the resurrection of all the saints].” – Ephesians 4:30.

“If anyone sees his brother sinning a sin which does not lead to death [speaking of the second death], he will ask, and He will give him life [eternal life] for those who commit sin not leading to death [speaking of the second death]. There is sin leading to death [again, speaking of the second death]. I do not say that he should pray about that [meaning, he should not make a request for this!]. 17) All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death [speaking again of the second death].” – 1 John 5:16-17.

Notice what happens to those who do commit sin leading to death ──

“ …’ He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels … 46) And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.’ – Matthew 25:41, 46.

I cover what is meant, “everlasting punishment” in our Letter to our Friends – July 2, 2021.

The fire is everlasting, the execution is the second death, it’s instantaneous.

The LORD God’s immutable word is clear that They are willing to forgive us our sins ── if we confess our sins to Them and REPENT ── Acts 2:38; 3:19.

But what if you do not repent?

Well...   Satan the Devil told Eve ──

“ …’ You will not surely die. …’” – Genesis 3:4.

Yet, the LORD God says ──

“ …’ Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17) but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’” ─ Genesis 2:16.

And, under divine inspiration, the apostle Paul ──

“For the wages of sin is death [speaking of the second death], but THE GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23.

They are not speaking of a first death ── our physical death that is caused by the second law of thermodynamics, also known as the law of increasing decay. Because, and I’ve mentioned this several times now ── that even if Adam had taken of the tree of life, he was going to die anyway, no matter if they were to choose the tree of life or the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Had they chosen the tree of life, they would still have lived out their days and died. But, like what the apostle Paul wrote, “at the twinkling of an eye,” they would have been resurrected wholly spiritual beings. Have you ever thought of this before? They were speaking of a second death ── a death in which you are not resurrected again. A permanent death.

Again, the LORD God ──

“’ I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you [the very day that you hear His message], that I have set before you LIFE AND DEATH, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, …’” – Deuteronomy 30:19.

“’ Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.’” – Ezekiel 18:4, 20.

On our Statements of Belief page, we wrote ──
Baptism of Fire

The baptism of fire is NOT a baptism to be sought by spiritually begotten children of God – as some teach. It is a baptism that is reserved for the incorrigibly wicked. The Scriptures reveal that the baptism of fire is the eternal destruction of the vile wicked in the “lake which burns with fire and brimstone.” Those who are cast into this lake of fire will NOT be “tormented day and night forever and ever,” but will be burned up. This is the second death – the permanent death – and God’s final judgment for the unrepentant and for those who have committed the unpardonable sin – those who have rejected God’s Way of salvation through Jesus Christ. All who have hardened their hearts in their iniquities and their rebellion against Almighty God and who have committed the unpardonable sin by knowingly resisting and blaspheming God’s Holy Spirit – therefore making it impossible to now be led to repentance. They together will be destroyed (“perish” – cf. 2 Peter 3:9) together in the “lake which burns with fire and brimstone.”
The LORD God gives men time to repent of a sin which does not lead to death. Notice what our Lord Jesus says ──

“ … ‘A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7) Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’ 8) But he answered and said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9) And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that, you can cut it down.’ – Luke 13:6-9.

Cf. ──

’ Nevertheless, I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21) And I GAVE HER TIME TO REPENT …’ – Revelation 2:20, 21.

Our Lord and Savior is teaching us that while the LORD God may grant the unfruitful some time to repent and begin producing fruits fitting for God (and this certainly applies to everyone who has been called by Father God), there is a limit to the amount of time that is allotted. We MUST OVERCOME AND PRODUCE FRUIT FITTING FOR GOD!

Notice some additional Scriptures basically teaching us what the unpardonable sin is ──

“Therefore, we MUST give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, LEST WE DRIFT AWAY. 2) For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3) HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE NEGLECT SO GREAT A SALVATION, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4) God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?” – Hebrews 2:1-4.

“For IT IS IMPOSSIBLE for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5) and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6) if they FALL AWAY, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.” – Hebrews 6:4-6.

So notice that the only sin that will not be forgiven in this age or the age to come is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit ── which is knowingly and willingly rejecting/neglecting the glorious Holy Spirit, which is gifted after true repentance and true baptism.

Notice this warning for those who have been called by Father God, have properly repented and have been properly baptized, having hands laid upon them, and receiving the glorious gift of the Holy Spirit ──

“For if we sin WILLFULLY after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin, 27) but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

29) Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant [the New Covenant] by which he was sanctified a common thing, and INSULTED THE SPIRIT OF GRACE?” – Hebrews 10:26-27, 29.

While this sounds like an unjust God, notice what God’s living word says ──

“For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. MERCY TRIUMPHS OVER JUDGMENT.” – James 2:13.

God’s living word in the Old Testament confirms the living truth of the unpardonable sin ──

“ … ‘if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity [speaking of the first death here]; … 20) Again, when A RIGHTEOUS MAN TURNS FROM HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND COMMITS INIQUITY, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die [speaking of the second death here]; … he shall die in his sin, AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH HE HAS DONE [previously] SHALL NOT BE REMEMBERED; …’” – Ezekiel 3:19, 20.

“’ But when A RIGHTEOUS MAN TURNS AWAY FROM HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND COMMITS INIQUITY, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, SHALL HE LIVE?

ALL THE RIGHTEOSNESS WHICH HE HAD DONE SHALL NOT BE REMEMBERED; because of the unfaithfulness of which he is guilty and the sin which he has committed, because of them he shall die [speaking of the second death here].’” – Ezekiel 18:24.

Our Friends, Brethren, and Co-Workers in Christ ── those who worry about committing the unpardonable sin, it is most likely that you have not committed it. The fact that you are concerned about it shows that you have not WILLFULLY turned your back on the LORD God and God’s Way!

The LORD God will indeed forgive you if you REPENT and confess your sins to Them.

Truly, truly, the LORD God wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, and does not want anyone to commit the unpardonable sin ── this explains why the LORD God is only calling a few in this present evil age (Matthew 20:16b), while nearly everyone will be forgiven in the age to come! □

Be Not Ignorant of Satan

In 2015 I had a dream in the night in my head while on my bed, and behold, I saw a young Jewish family on a bright beautiful morning, in which all the males wore yarmulkes, taking pictures. Then as I lifted my eyes I saw a huge armada of spaceships in low earth orbit in which one very tall commander dressed in silver armor with six huge horns that wrapped around from the back of his head, his face shining like the sun in full strength, stood atop one of the ships looking through a pair of binoculars at the earth.

by Leonard V Johnson

Brethren – this past year it seems as if Satan the devil has ramped up his attacks on us! I am being horrendously personally attacked by Satan – and he is using others in my life to do so. We, brethren, have a desperate fight on our hands. Satan the devil is our sworn enemy – as well as those he uses to torment us. He is obsessively working to eliminate us from the LORD God’s family. We must learn to recognize our enemies and expose their tactics.

We are living in a worsening world! As an example - every day multiple thousands of illegal immigrants are crossing our southern border – changing the United States of America drastically in diversity, becoming more polarized politically, and growing less and less Christian. And don’t let the mainstream media fool you – these illegal immigrants are not “assimilating” into American traditions and culture. And, for the lack of a better term, I mean – Jeffersonian democracy.

According to Larry Mead, Professor of Politics and Public Policy at New York University, “What research shows quite clearly and it also confirms … the poor [immigrants] are not bohemians seeking to live out a liberated life in the midst of an uptight society. No. They actually have very orthodox values, and the central problem in poverty research is to explain how their actual lifestyle can differ so greatly from the values which they themselves affirm, including marriage, including obeying the law, the things that their actual culture, their way of life, violates.” That was of course, before the panel turned the discussion racial. 1 He also has stated, “The immigration debate has ignored effects on American culture. The United States has become a multicultural society, which is good, but rapid immigration threatens to turn it into a mainly Latin American and Asian country. That would undermine the individualist culture, derived from Europe, that is essential to American world leadership.” 2

Not to mention – this world is saturated with an avalanche of fake news and false information. Confusion abounds! People the world over are frustrated and perplexed. This is not the design of the LORD God’s world! No, in fact, the LORD God is not the author of confusion – 1 Corinthians 14:33. But, Satan the devil is – and the LORD God warns us not to be ignorant of his devices – 2 Corinthians 2:11.

Certainly, before the LORD God opened our minds to the living Word of God, the Truth of God, and the Plan of God, we might have thought that Satan the devil and his minions had merely “progressed from a belief in magic [and I might add, darkness, ignorance, and superstitions] as a means of controlling [mankind’s] environment to religious beliefs, which propitiated” their gods, goddesses, and spirits. 3 Brethren, even today, we tend to gravely discount the terrifying reality of Satan the devil, and his demons – and he is quick to take advantage of this.

Satan the devil is REAL!

There is a myth that has been spread throughout the world – that Satan doesn’t exist. “How can people seriously believe in the devil? The year is 2015, not 1315. And yet, the fact remains that tens of millions of Americans continue to believe that there is a magical, wicked, evil—oh, and smart—being out there doing magical, wicked, evil deeds and presiding over a fiery realm, where demons crawl and witches cackle. Oh, wait. No cackling witches. Just demons, right?” - Phil Zuckerman Ph.D. 4 This kind of thinking not only facilitates Satan’s devious work, but it also gives him a perverted “cackle.”

Something that Satan understands and the majority of humanity does not – is that seemingly insignificant human beings (in terms of the majestic vastness of the universe) on this relatively small planet have the potential, the glorious and merciful opportunity, to become God! While he, “brilliant and beautiful” will be “destroyed” forever. Satan is thus desperately trying to destroy all men!

Now, who would Satan the devil and his minions rather destroy!? An ignorant child in Africa, Asia, or South America!? No, brethren – it’s us! Our eternal destruction is his ultimate goal – because the LORD God has promised us that we will be the firstfruits of the God family – which at this time consists of God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ! We MUST come to realize and understand, brethren, that we who are being called now do not get another chance!

As Jerusalem is being surrounded by her enemies and we are drawing nearer to our Lord Jesus Christ’s return, Satan the devil and his imps will apply even more pressure – “ … ‘Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time’” – Revelation 12:12. Satan the devil will soon bolster his Mother Church – and his daughter churches – with great signs in the sight of all men! – cf. Revelation 13:11-14. “’ For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect’” – Matthew 24:24. “’ See, I have told you beforehand.’” Implying that you, brethren, won’t be deceived because you will know the TRUTH. Jesus Christ is claiming that in the end-time there would be people who say they represent Jesus Christ – and they don’t! They are lying! They’re false prophets! There IS a GRAVE DANGER! I know from experience of the grave danger of temptation which can and will (if you allow it) ensnare you into this world – into the false doctrine of even reincarnation – into forbidden fellowship or false worship. Or, in thinking that the LORD God is not answering your prayer. Also, sadly, there is one in our very midst, THAT’S EVEN HARDER TO RESIST – the impulse to listen to a professed BROTHER OR SISTER – who begins to say to you “You will not surely die.” One who – as Paul says – preaches any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you. One who proclaims to you, “Cain is Satan’s son.” Or, “Adam was a hermaphrodite.” Or, “angels had sex.”

Surrounded By Enemies

Imagine yourself in an African game reserve. Lions, cheetahs, and leopards are prowling all around you. In the darkest of nights, the calling hyenas, and the roar of a lioness! They are hungry!

Brethren – we are like one in an African game reserve surrounded by lions, cheetahs, and leopards – vulnerable to Satan the devil, and his imps! But, we are not alone! Our Lord Jesus Christ has assured us, “ … ‘ lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’” “’ Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you with My righteous right hand’” – Isaiah 41:10.

Oftentimes these lions, cheetahs, and leopards are family members, friends – or your mothers-in-law boyfriend! Our LORD God warns us, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” – 1 Peter 5:8. Do you heed this Scripture!? Or, do you think that your family member, friend, or mothers-in-law boyfriend surely isn’t being INFLUENCED TO ATTACK YOU by an evil powerful spirit!? DO YOU BELIEVE THE LORD GOD!? We had better – our very salvation depends upon it!

Many of us have wrongly assumed that the only battle we have in life is with ourselves – with the works of the flesh (cf. Galatians 5:19-21). But this is not true. The apostle Paul also states that we should “put on the whole armor of God, that [we] may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12) For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, AGAINST SPIRITUAL HOSTS OF WICKEDNESS in the heavenly places” – Ephesians 6:10-12. Satan the devil is the deceiver of this age – not the Church of Jesus Christ! Satan, our mortal and spiritual enemy, knows every facet and nuance of human nature – and exploits it!

To Arms! To Arms! Take Up the Shield of Faith!

Let us, however, not resort to the level of those Satan the devil uses and influences! Let us not hate, clench our fists, and lash out. Let us also not just roll over and let our enemies take advantage and abuse us. Our LORD God has not created and then called us, brethren, to merely be a target for Satan’s fiery darts! Our loving Father and Elder Brother have not given Satan the devil and his imps complete freedom to do whatever their heart desires.

Minister Michael C. Garrett –
“Are you thinking about others, or are you thinking about yourself!? Very simple formula. And I think it was a very accurate formula. … Turn to Philippians chapter 4 – there’s a wonderful passage about peace. Verse 4 – “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” – and we, sometimes, as the people of God, forget to rejoice! We get so concerned and heavy laden with all of the news of the world, and maybe individual problems, situations within our families and friends, work, and bank accounts, and all the things that we start to worry about. But we should always keep in mind that in the end The Anchor Holds, Jesus Christ is there, and He will be with us!”
The apostle Paul gave us another wonderful passage. Ephesians chapter 4, about three verses. We can, sadly, “grieve the Spirit.” Verse 30 – “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, …” – We’ve always seen this to mean – don’t squeeze the Spirit of God out of you! I don’t think God takes His Spirit from you. Because we’re told, the gifts and the repentance of God are without repentance. He doesn’t take away His Spirit, but I think we – as human beings – have the capability to simply drive God out of our minds, and out of our presence. Verse 31 – “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32) And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” – and think about the times we’ve been told – if you are not willing to extend mercy, mercy will not be shown to you! If you are not willing to forgive, forgiveness will not be extended to you by God. It’s said over and over, just plain as can be!

Notice that in 1st Peter 5:8, the apostle Peter wrote under inspiration, “the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he MAY devour.” And, whom MAY Satan the adversary devour? Can he devour you!? It’s an IMPORTANT question!

We can certainly know who he MAY devour by knowing who he cannot devour. “We know that whosoever is BORN OF GOD sinneth not; but he that is BEGOTTEN OF GOD keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not” – 1 John 5:18, KJV. That wicked one (Satan the devil) CANNOT TOUCH A BEGOTTEN CHILD OF GOD who “KEEPS HIMSELF”! In other words, IF WE ARE VIGILANT AND WATCHFUL!

Are you able to believe this guarantee from JESUS CHRIST THE MAGNIFICENT ONE!? The LORD God states that Satan the devil cannot even touch us – so long as we “keep ourselves.” If we are vigilant and sincerely dedicated to our Lord Jesus Christ. But, if we let our guard down and do not “keep ourselves” then Satan the devil will have an opportunity to devour us.

The apostle Paul warns not to “give place to the devil.” – Ephesians 4:27. In other words, don’t give Satan the devil and his imps an inch. Our enemy will use any means – any open opportunity – by which he can take advantage of us. An example in the Book of Job shows us that Satan the devil will attack our very character and will try to dislodge our integrity and faithfulness to the LORD God – cf. Job 1:6-11.

The LORD God’s loving mercy and grace have blessed us with ample spiritual ammunition to ward off Satan the devil and his imps. But, we MUST utilize this spiritual ammunition! Our enemies have many devices they use and we must know them – and expose them.

Satan the devil “loves” Sin

You have heard us say – we unapologetically and boldly say the old adage, “Love the sinner, hate the sin” – and we hold to this. But, Satan the devil, and his demons are diametrically the opposite. They hate the sinner, but love the sin! Satan is the personification of all sin! Therefore, every single sin we commit is like crawling into a dark tunnel and finding yourself inside the mind of the evil one – Satan the devil! “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. …” – 1 John 3:8. As we harbor a sin, Satan establishes an effective base of operations within us for expanding his evil and vile influence. The longer any sin remains festering within us, the harder it becomes to eject Satan the devil out of our minds.

This is not an analogy of the movie “Being John Malkovich.” This is reality! The LORD God tells us, brethren, that every time we are disobedient, Satan the devil’s spirit “worketh” in us! – cf. Ephesians 2:2.

Forgive and Forget Sins

Do you find it difficult to forgive and forget sins – either those you have committed and have sincerely and heartfelt repented of, or sins committed against you!? “’ For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15) But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses’” – Matthew 6:14-15. When you sin and you immediately go to Father God and our Lord Jesus Christ and sincerely repent and ask for forgiveness – do you then forget that sin!? Do you forgive yourself!? When a person trespasses against you – do you ask Father God and our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive that person for their trespass against you!? Do you – like the LORD God – then forget that sin that they trespassed against you!?

“For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12) As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us” – Psalm 103:11-12.

Or, do you continue to dredge up and remember the transgression – the sin!? When you see or hear that person who trespassed against you, do you immediately allow that trespass to spark in your mind? Does your unforgiveness of sin taint your attitude toward that person? The LORD God remembers our sins no more – “’ I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins’” – Isaiah 43:25.

Brethren, when we continue to rehash and harp on the bygone sins of others – we are not punishing that person – we are merely damaging ourselves and opening ourselves up to Satan the devil.

Sadly, we tend to forget what we should remember and remember what we should forget. Every sin, trespass, and grudge that we forgive and forget, another door is shut for any demonical influence in our mind! Let it be for your own sake that you forgive and forget transgressions against you.

Again, I am not saying – just roll over and let our enemies take advantage and abuse us. No, like Deputy Barney Fife so often said, “Nip it in the bud!” But we must forgive and forget – for our own sake. For the sake of salvation.

Be Not Discouraged!

We are always affected by those who trespass against us. Physically or emotionally. When severe personal tribulations close in on us, let us not be disheartened, discouraged, or dismayed. The apostle Paul knew and understood that the discouragements resulting from tribulations laid the groundwork for the “tempter” to tempt us.

“Therefore, when we could no longer endure it, we thought it good to be left in Athens alone, 2) and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer IN THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith, 3) that no one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this.” In other words, we are appointed to have tribulations! In fact, he states just this – “For, in fact, we told you before when we were with you that we would suffer tribulation, just as it happened, and you know.

For THIS REASON, when I could no longer endure it, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor might be in vain” – 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5.

This is reminiscent of James 1:2-4 – “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials [tribulations], 3) knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” Tribulations help us develop perseverance, endurance, and spiritual maturity.

We are commanded to live by faith – Romans 1:17. The worse the trial – the tribulation – the greater the potential for the development of faith. A faith that can remove mountains if need be – metaphorically speaking. Let us not allow Satan the devil to have any opening by becoming disheartened, discouraged, or dismayed by a trial. Rather, ask Father God and our Lord Jesus Christ to grant you even more of Their faith.

This morning in thought and meditation upon the living words of God I came to see and understand that the tribulation that I am going through is not as important as I think it is. I asked Father God and our Lord Jesus to take this burden from me (the burden of thinking and feeling that this tribulation is weightier than it actually is – the sky is not falling. It was just an acorn!). To replace any or all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking with love, mercy, forgiveness, and wisdom.

“And above all things have fervent love for one another, for ‘love will cover a multitude of sins.’” – 1 Peter 4:8. As well as – trespasses.

Be Not Self-Righteous

Pride can make a person become condescending and self-righteous so that he sees himself as greater than he actually is. Lucifer was prideful and he became SELF-RIGHTEOUS! Thinking himself greater than our Lord Jesus Christ! It’s easier for prostitutes or even Sabbath-breakers to acknowledge their sins than even a self-righteous individual. A self-righteous person – by definition – does not normally recognize their sins.

The wonderful Book of Job (pronounced jōb) is within God’s living word to teach us the lesson of self-righteousness. Because Job, in his heart, had said, “I am pure, without transgression; I am innocent, and there is no iniquity in me. Yet He [the LORD God] finds occasions against me, He counts me as His enemy.’” – Job 33:8-10.

The prophet Job was righteous in his own eyes. Have you ever accused the LORD God and felt that They dealt with you unfairly!? Perhaps you did not outwardly sin with your lips (Job 2:10), but inwardly you sinned in your heart with feelings of bitterness and resentfulness toward the LORD God – maybe for Them not immediately taking care of the tribulation!? A trial or tribulation that maybe you caused yourself. Let us be reminded of the words of the apostle Paul to the Philippians – “Yet the things that were gain to me, these things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8) But then truly, I count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord; for Whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung; that I may gain Christ” – Philippians 3:7-8, NET. We, brethren, should be of the same mindset. Sadly, a great many are self-righteous individuals who exude an air of self-confidence and self-satisfaction – say, in their ability to go to a church every Sunday! “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God” – Romans 10:3.

As I noted in our online PDF booklet “Does God Exist?” ─ of a female Lutheran LGBTQ+ preacher who was exhibiting self-righteousness – self-righteous people tend not to be alone. She vehemently invited the young man who challenged her back to her lair – surely so that she would have a Legion behind her. All with the same general belief! To console, sympathize, encourage, and sustain each other in their self-righteousness – just as their father Satan the devil has always done.

Be Not Accusatory!

Have you ever thought why a particular individual who has trespassed against you is still doing just fine!? You, of course, “knew” that he or she had trespassed against you - is the LORD God blind!? Certainly not! “Why isn’t the LORD God punishing that person?”

Do not despise the riches of the LORD God’s goodness, patience, self-control, and tolerance. But rather know “that the goodness of God leads you to repentance.”

Sadly, some judge others – especially those in the Church of Jesus Christ. Often, when we feel that when a member of His Church stumbles, our status rises. But, in fact, we all suffer – cf. 1st Corinthians 12:26.

We are warned, “ … you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; …” – Romans 2:1. Now understand – “’ Judge not, that you be not judged’” does not mean that we can never tell whether or not something is a sin. As an example (and was pointed out recently by Minister Guy LaMar) –
“Godly people care about their form of dress. Within the military and most corporate offices require a dress code of respectability – so should people who come before the LORD God in Church.

As an example: A true Christian woman should dress classy and respectable. Through the years, I’ve personally seen young girls come to Church dressed like a street walker. They don’t care that they are there to honor the LORD God. They don’t care that they are dishonoring the name that they claim to bear. It’s all based upon their own vanity. It’s all about self-pleasure, as opposed to dressing to HONOR the LORD God.

1st Timothy 2:9-10 – “in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves IN MODEST APPAREL, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair (and DREADLOCKS is a good example) or gold or pearls or costly clothing (which is a lot of what you witness in a great many of these worldly churches), 10) but, which is PROPER for women professing godliness, with good works.”
And, of course, a great many women attacked him for this!

Brethren, “’ Judge not’” means do not impute motives, do not malign an underlying attitude, do not condemn. Only the LORD God can look within someone’s heart (cf. 1st Samuel 16:7). Only the LORD God can pass that judgment or that condemnation.

Too often some question the sincerity, the intent, or even the conversion of someone in the Church of Jesus Christ. Just like most of the splinter groups of the Church of God proudly claim that they are the members of “the Philadelphia era,” many never fail to give themselves any benefit of the doubt. Not properly understanding what our Lord Jesus Christ is saying here, in this Book of prophecy – talking about the end-time! The Book of Revelation is a Book which was only to be understood in the end-time. And now that we’re in, or rather near, the end-time, it’s starting to be understood. And chapters 2 & 3 – although He’s talking about an earlier group of people, the former, it’s also a prophecy about the latter. About the latter days. This is an end-time prophecy. There are aspects of all seven churches within the whole of the body of Christ. So, when you point at a “Laodicean” (as an example) you’re pointing three fingers back at yourself! – “There is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT, just as you were called in ONE HOPE of your calling; 5) ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM; 6) ONE GOD and FATHER of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” – Ephesians 4:4-6.

Satan the devil certainly hysterically gloats on his throne when one church proudly announces that it is they – and only they – that are of “the Philadelphia era”! Our enemies – Satan the devil and his imps – are busy accusing the brethren day and night before the LORD God! In fact, one of Satan the devil’s titles is “The Accuser of Our Brethren”!

Gird Up Your Loin With Jesus Christ!

Brethren, the LORD our God does not leave us defenseless. Our mighty Lord Jesus THE MAGNIFICENT goes beyond just telling us what not to do – He also instructs us what we should be doing to thwart Satan the devil and his devices. He has not given us “a spirit of fear” or ignorance, “but of power and of love and of A SOUND MIND” – 1 Timothy 1:7.

The apostle Paul goes over this with us in Ephesians 4 –

“if indeed you have been taught BY HIM, as the truth is IN JESUS: 22) that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23) and BE RENEWED IN THE SPIRIT OF YOUR MIND, 24) and that you PUT ON THE NEW MAN which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

25) Therefore, PUTTING AWAY LYING [which includes putting away FALSE RELIGIONS AND BELIEFS], ‘Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,’ for we are members of one another. 26) ‘Be angry, and do not sin’ : do not let the sun go down on your wrath 27) nor give place to the devil. 28) Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29) LET NO CORRUPT WORD [or even FALSE DOCTRINE, or GOSSIP] proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

And again – Ephesians 4:30 – “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by [which] you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

Here is an all-encompassing method for counteracting Satan the devil and his imps! How is a way we can use God’s Holy Spirit? Well, God’s Spirit does not make one do anything – does not coerce; rather it leads and oversees and suggests thoughts in our minds. This constantly occurs within the minds of God’s begotten children! We should never ignore these suggestions but rather proceed to carry out what God’s Spirit suggests to us – not giving place to Satan the devil.

Finally, my brethren – turning to Ephesians 6 – describes our defenses against Satan’s kingdom.

“Put on the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD” and “take up the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD” “so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

1) “Put on” and “take up” are both active processes. We must consciously every day wholeheartedly do our part.

2) We NEED the “whole” armor of God.” Nothing less than the full protection of God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ!

3) “to stand against the wiles of the devil.” We have no alternative but to stand and fight. Running away from a roaring lion will only be worse. It’s important to remain threatening to Satan the devil and his imps while your loin is girded with the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD!

“above all, taking the SHIELD OF FAITH with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” – Ephesians 6:10-16.

What are his fiery darts!? Well, they may come in various guises – persecutions, false accusations, and tribulations. But, brethren, so long as we have THE SHIELD OF FAITH – “FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST” – Satan’s fiery darts will only bounce off!

“THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT” is an awesome offensive weapon, the sword here being the living WORD OF GOD (Ephesians 6:17). In any situation, any temptation, threat, or tribulation, a blitzkrieg offensive attack with the living WORD OF GOD will irrevocably turn the tide of the war. In each of three recorded attacks by Satan the devil against our Lord Jesus Christ, He quoted Scripture! – Matthew 4:1-11. The IMMEDIATE counterattack of the most opportune Scriptures stopped Satan the devil cold! And, our Lord Jesus Christ promises us that the appropriate areas of His living word will come to our minds in times of need –

’ But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils [even including religious councils] and scourge you in their synagogues [even in their churches]. 18) You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony [a witness] to them and to the Gentiles. 19) But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you’” – Matthew 10:16-20.

We must, brethren, continuously read and study God’s living word, diligently building up our Scriptural vocabulary and understanding.

Finally – we see how to integrate and vivify all the pieces of God’s armor into one strong team –

“praying ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication IN THE SPIRIT, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints─” – Ephesians 6:18.

Brethren, this work of JESUS CHRIST is trumpeting the glorious and powerful return of our Savior, Master, and Elder Brother to take the kingdoms of this world away from Satan the devil! And this work of JESUS CHRIST helps reveal the ‘mysteries’ of God’ and the very fact that every person – past, present, and future – can qualify to become God!

Let us continue this living work of the Eternal God while it is still day. Because night is coming when no one can work – John 9:4; Amos 8:11-12.

For as long as the saints of God are in this world – there is light! – Matthew 5:14. When all the saints of God are resurrected upon the blowing of the SEVENTH TRUMP – there will no longer be light in the world!

“THEREFORE submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8) Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. …” – James 4:7, 8. □

Think About This ... Forgiveness

by Guy LaMar

Brethren, here are some Scriptures of inspiration – from God’s living word.

Upon the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, He will bring with Him His mighty angels, and out of His mouth goes His living word – sharper than any two-edged sword, shining brighter than the sun in its full strength! And, when we see Him, we will fall at His feet as dead. He will say to us, ‘Do not be afraid; I AM the First and the Last.’

Let us also be reminded, brethren ─

’ But seek FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness, …’

FORGIVENESS IS REQUIRED FOR SALVATION

“Then Peter came to Him and said, ‘Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I FORGIVE HIM? Up to seven times?’

Jesus said to him, ‘I do not say to you, up to seven times, but UP TO SEVENTY TIMES SEVEN.’ – Matthew 18:21-22.

’ For IF YOU FORGIVE MEN THEIR TRESPASSES, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But IF YOU DO NOT FORGIVE MEN THEIR TRESPASSES, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.’ – Matthew 6:14-15.

‘ … whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets [the Law of Moses and the books consisting of the prophets of God].’ – Matthew 7:12.

Speaking primarily concerning the possibly twelve end-time prophets ending in only the ‘two witnesses’(see Rev. 11:3-12), our Lord Jesus says, ’ Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness [recall 1 John 3:4] will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

But he who endures to the end shall be saved.’ – Matthew 24:9-14.

“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER, tenderhearted, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, even as God in Christ forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:31-32.

’ And whenever you stand praying, if you have ANYTHING AGAINST ANYONE, FORGIVE HIM, that you Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you DO NOT forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.’ – Mark 11:25-26.

Why!? Is it for their benefit!? No. It’s for your benefit! Notice –

“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head, And the LORD will reward you.” – Proverbs 25:22.

The Apostle Paul reiterates this point –

“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord. Therefore ‘If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.’ – Romans 12:19-20.

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and THE TRUTH [God’s living word] is not in us. If we confess our sins [confess only to God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ], He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” – 1 John 1:8-10.

Brethren, the Apostle Paul admonishes us –

“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only DO NOT use liberty as an opportunity FOR THE FLESH, but through love [the love of God; the Greek word agape] serve one another.

For the law [the whole of the Ten Commandments] is fulfilled in ONE WORD, even in this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

But if you bite and devour one another, BEWARE lest you be consumed by one another!” – Galatians 5:13-15.

Our beloved Paul explains that THE FLESH and THE SPIRIT are in conflict with each other within us, thus it is necessary that we deny any sinful desires and obey the Holy Spirit – the very mind of the LORD God!

“But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do so toward all the brethren … We urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to LEAD A QUIET LIFE, to MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS, and TO WORK WITH YOUR OWN HANDS, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:9, 10, 11-12.

“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes [religiously or academically], knowing that they generate strife. And A SERVANT OF THE LORD MUST NOT QUARREL but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, IF GOD PERHAPS WILL GRANT THEM REPENTANCE, so that they may know THE TRUTH, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.” – 2 Timothy 2:22-26.

“Let NO CORRUPT WORD [including any FALSE DOCTRINE] proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” – Ephesians 4:29.

“REMIND them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. … But shun PROFANE and IDLE babblings [gossiping], for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like [canker; meaning gangrene, the local loss of blood supply – spread by an infection]. …” – 2 Timothy 2:14, 16, 17.

King Solomon, who was blessed with great wisdom and knowledge from the LORD God adds –

“He who goes about as a [tattletale] reveals secrets; Therefore DO NOT associate with one [who gossips] with his lips.” – Proverbs 20:19.

“Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no [tattletale], strife ceases.” – Proverbs 26:20.

“Whoever guards his mouth and tongue Keeps his [life] from troubles.” – Proverbs 21:23.

“A perverse man [a person involved in moral error] sows strife, And a whisperer [a gossiper] separates the best of friends.” – Proverbs 16:28.

“Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.” – Proverbs 10:18.

“He who covers a transgression seeks love, But he who repeats a matter separates friends.” – Proverbs 17:9.

And the Apostle James, a very brother to our Lord Jesus Christ says –

“If ANYONE among you thinks he is religious, and DOES NOT bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.

PURE and UNDEFILED RELIGION before God [our Lord Jesus Christ] and the Father [God the Father] is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” – James 1:26-27. □

What Is Grace?

 by Guy C. LaMar

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone should boast.” – Eph. 2:8-9.

The Apostle Paul urges us, “Test [or rather, PROVE] all things; hold fast what is good.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:21.

“’ To the law and to the testimony!’” says the LORD God – the very family of God; which at this moment consists of God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ – through the Prophet Isaiah. “’ If they do not speak according to this word [the Word of God; Deut. 8:3; Matt. 4:4], it is because there is no light in them.” – Isaiah 8:20.

Now, just what IS sin!? What is God’s definition of what SIN is!? “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, AND SIN IS LAWLESSNESS” – 1 John 3:4.

So, since this is what sin is – then the BREAKING OF GOD’S LAW IS SIN!

Satan the Devil and his ministers (2 Corinthians 11:13-15) have been CONFUSING the true meaning of grace in the majority of mankind’s minds!

Sadly, this whole world – according to God’s living word – has been DECEIVED! – Revelation 12:9; 20:3.

So, just what IS grace!?

Grace is Favor, Kindness, and MERCY. It is a DIVINE MERCY OR FORGIVENESS!

Grace is FORGIVENESS! Grace is a PARDON! Grace is MERCY!

The Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of God’s Spirit, says, “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. 15) What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” – Romans 6:14-15.

Here, a lot of people use this Scripture to do away with God’s Law (the Ten Commandments) – they say, “Ah! There it is, you’re not under the Law anymore but under grace!” Well, look again at what he says here – he doesn’t say that the law doesn’t have dominion over you, does he!? What does he say!? That “sin shall not have dominion over you.” There's a huge difference there! Sometimes when Paul uses the word “law,” he’s talking about the Old Covenant or the law of the Levites and the temple people – as he is here. He’s talking about that law or that collection of practices that we would normally label under the umbrella as the Old Covenant. We’re under grace – we’re under the Priesthood of Jesus Christ, under the priesthood of forgiveness, hope, help, and love. And you know, that’s what we should do to people. I believe Paul is speaking of the law of the Old Covenant, or the law of the Levites and the temple elite - here.

“Therefore, just as through one man sin [Adam] entered the world, and DEATH [the death penalty] through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned ─” – Romans 5:12.

Now, I feel we should be reminded here of this - some Protestant groups misinterpret, they misapply, they misrepresent the term ‘God’s grace,’ and they make it into the incorrect concept of ‘once saved always saved’ – of which they call “eternal security.” You know, “Give your heart to the Lord, and it’s all said and done!” Well, that’s not correct! Many ministers from the outreaches of the churches of God continue to avoid or detour completely around God's holy grace because they think the word "grace" sounds too Protestant. And yet, the term ‘God’s grace’ – my friends, we have no chance unless God is gracious to us! Almighty God and our Lord Jesus Christ forever be praised - Amen!

“For the wages of sin is death, but …” – and we always quote this first part here – ‘THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH!’ That is certainly true. But look at the second part of this – I want to focus on that part here. “ … the gift of God is eternal life [through] Christ Jesus our Lord.” That is the grace that God gave! That is the glory of God being expressed through His love – through Jesus Christ – by giving us His Son! ‘ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!’

Sadly, every human being has – because of our very nature of hostility against the LORD God and Their commands (see Rom. 8:7) – has been convicted of sinning and breaking the LORD God’s commands – summed up in the TEN COMMANDMENTS! And, the penalty is DEATH! – Rom. 6:23. Our Lord Jesus Christ DIED in order to PARDON OUR PAST SINS! – Rom. 5:8.

UNMERITED GRACE is the ultimate mercy of the LORD God – the unearned, undeserving PARDON of our great and loving God when we properly and completely repent of our past sins.

“In Him [our Lord Jesus Christ] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” – Eph. 1:7.

GRACE, then, is the LORD God’s loving willingness to FORGIVE US of our past sins!

Even before the ink was dry on the pages of the New Testament, Almighty God inspired the Apostle Jude to write, “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” – the keeping of the TEN COMMANDMENTS and ACKNOWLEDGMENT that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Master! “For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God [God the Father] and our Lord Jesus Christ” – Jude 1:3-4.

This, remember, was a prophecy of many centuries ago! The Apostle Jude went on to describe these ungodly men as those who were resentful and hostile toward any government, the laws of any government, and any in authority.

“Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, REJECT AUTHORITY, and speak evil of dignitaries” – Jude 1:8.

What is in the minds of the majority of professing Christians concerning their relationship with God today?

It is simply – they have been convinced that a person should live a “righteous life.” They have been taught that they have been a “sinner” – which usually means “a person who has lived an unrighteous life.” And, to the majority, an “unrighteous life” is merely participating in and having various “worldly” habits, and interests – such as attending a movie theatre, dancing, music, drinking alcohol, or gambling. It may even include various trends and fads of clothing. There are literally THOUSANDS of categories in the minds of men which constitute their definition of SIN. However, whether it involves a lifestyle choice, habits, indulgences, or “worldly acts” – the majority of professing Christians would say that conversion, to them, means “living for God.” That it means living a “good life,” rather than an “bad life.” It means to “do good” rather than to “do bad.”

So, in vague terms, the majority of professing Christians realize that there must be a certain change in their life when they “repent” or “give their heart to the Lord.” To most – GRACE is the state of a Christian who is “living for God”! Grace has come to falsely mean A CONDITION of the INDIVIDUAL, rather than A QUALITY OF THE LORD GOD!

In other words, instead of properly understanding the true meaning of GRACE as revealed to us in God’s living word, the majority come to believe that GRACE is merely a biblical term that vaguely means that the Christian is “eternally saved.”

Have you ever been clear on this subject!? Have you been able to discover, in your Bible, your beliefs regarding your present state!? Have you been able to prove – beyond a shadow of a doubt – the true meaning of just what is SIN!?

Let’s clear the cobwebs! Let’s not be confused anymore! Let’s come to properly understand!

What Is Repentance?

“ … ‘REPENT, and let every one of you be baptized.REPENT therefore and be converted, …’” – Acts 2:38; 3:19. To be converted means to be CHANGED!

And, this CHANGE of which the LORD God speaks is far from any vague sort of change. It means a complete and total change, a change in direction, a change that the LORD God requires in every facet of our lives! Our Lord Jesus Christ says to us, “ … ‘ unless you repent you will all likewise perish.’ – Luke 13:3. And He said it twice for grave IMPORTANCE!

To repent means to be deeply and heartfelt broken up over having sinned! Of having disobeyed the living CREATOR OF ALL LIFE! The Apostle Peter continued, “ … ‘ that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.’”

Certainly, nearly everyone knows that our Savior, Jesus Christ, was tortured and died for the express purpose of taking upon Himself our sins!? Certainly, we all know this, as a matter of basic Christianity 101, that a sinner must call upon God to apply the sacrifice of Jesus in order to forgive sins!? Sadly, a large majority do not! Catholics, as an example, will repent to Mary. Or, if there is a priest available, they will repent to their priest.

King David, experiencing a real depth of repentance cried out unto God, “’ Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2) Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.’” – Psalm 51:1-2.

King David was calling for the UNMERITED MERCY of God! He was pleading to God to extend GRACE because of his past sins. Later, King David says, “’ Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.’” – Psalm 119:97.

So, when you REPENT – you are repenting of having SINNED AGAINST THE LORD GOD! And to repent from sin means not only to be completely and totally broken up over having sinned – it also means to come to a deep determination, with the glorious help from the Spirit of God, to NOT SIN AGAIN!

Let us never forget just what is sin. “ … sin is lawlessness.” – 1 John 3:4.

WHEN you have heartfelt repented and been forgiven by the LORD God, “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13) And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves TO GOD as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness TO GOD. 14) For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under GRACE” – Romans 6:12-14.

Do you understand!?

A truly repentant person is someone who is truly SORRY that he has sinned against the LORD God!

It means that the person is totally convicted of having broken the relevant and very holy COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and has now determined, with the loving help of God’s Spirit, never to break the COMMANDMENTS OF GOD again.

What the Apostle Paul is speaking of here, “you are not under the law, means that you are not under the penalty of the law. He did not mean that we are not under the obedience to the law.

Recall, he says to us, “ … I would not have known sin except through the law. …” – Romans 7:7. To obey the law is to be “within the law.” To sin, to disobey the LORD God is to be “under the law.” Capiche?

Why do you think that the majority of professing Christians DO NOT KNOW the truth in regards to “grace,” “justification,” “sanctification,” “redemption,” “conversion,” “dedication,” “confirmation,” and other religious sounding terms!?

Well, to be FRANK, it is because there has been a GREAT DECEPTION by Satan the Devil to deliberately confuse these terms in the mind of mankind – keeping the precious Word of God, the Truth of God, and the Plan of God obscured behind DARKNESS!

To a great many peoples, JUSTIFICATION just means the same as GRACE. The majority of our peoples believe that “once justified” they are “once saved always saved.” But this is simply NOT TRUE.

Again, let us always turn to the SOURCE OF TRUTH – God Almighty!

“(for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified).” – Romans 2:13.

It is just as God Almighty says! It is ONLY those who not only hear, but those who also DO and KEEP the holy laws of God, just as our Savior, Jesus Christ says, ’ Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom [from] heaven; but whoever DOES and TEACHES them, he shall be called great in the kingdom [from] heaven.’ – Matthew 5:19.

The LORD God will not save a single being who will not OBEY THEM!

Those who God the Father is calling out of this world, who have come to stand in awe, respect, and righteous fear of the holy immutable LAW OF GOD, and who now realizes has been convicted of sin in the sight of His LAW, have repented of breaking His LAW, shall be – as the result of their heartfelt repentance – justified.

Justification is not a permanent “condition” of a Christian. It has to do with the removal and forgiveness of past guilt.

The Eternal God plainly tells us that the works of the law – any law; whether HIS TEN COMMANDMENTS or civil laws – will not justify anyone. “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from deeds of the law.” – Romans 3:28.

Now, the LORD God did not say that it is the doing of the law that people can be justified. It is those who are willing to DO His holy immutable and relevant LAW who are now eligible for such justification.

Justification comes as the LORD God’s FREE AND LOVING GIFT, through the quality of God which is called GRACE. Notice –

“being justified FREELY by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 3:24.

Yet, neither justification nor grace is a “condition” of a Christian which shall be perpetually to him or her.

The Apostle Paul, foreseeing this confusion and the deliberate deception to hide the living TRUTH of this doctrine, went on to say, “whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance [His loving GRACE] God had passed over the sins that were previously committed.” – Romans 3:25.

So, grace is not some permanent condition of a Christian. It is the glorious quality of the LORD God – expressed toward a REPENTANT sinner who now realizes their guilt before the LAW OF GOD, and now wants ─ with all their heart, soul, and mind ─ to obey ALMIGHTY GOD!

Neither justification nor grace comes by the works of the law.

Rather, God’s living word clearly shows us that the LORD God will extend His unmerited PARDON, GRACE, to those who have been completely and heartfelt REPENTANT unto the family of God because they have disobeyed.

They are now PARDONED to begin OBEYING!

Once an individual has made this resolve in their mind, the LORD God says that such an individual can be justified.

“For by GRACE you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the GIFT OF GOD, 9) not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8-10.

We are the handiwork of God, created as new creatures, once we have been converted “in Christ Jesus” for the express purpose of living every word of God! And, living by every word of God means living IN OBEDIENCE to HIS HOLY LAW! Living in humility. Living a “good life” ─ but it is the LORD God who tells us what a “good life” is.

And the LORD God tells us by the perfect EXAMPLE of the life of Jesus Christ! He OBEYED PERFECTLY all of His Father’s Commandments!

The Apostle Peter says, “For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us AN EXAMPLE, that you should follow His steps: 22) ‘Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth.’ – 1 Peter 2:21-22.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, by ‘committing no sin,’ OBEYED ALL OF GOD’S TEN COMMANDMENTS. He set all of us an example to follow!

God’s holy and immutable Law MUST BE OBEYED!

Our Lord Jesus plainly tells us, “ … ‘ if you want to enter into life [eternal life], keep the commandments.’ – Matthew 19:17.

The Apostle Paul says, “Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” – Romans 7:12.

And, he went on to say, “For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.16) If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good.” – verses 14, 16.

Here is the New English Translation of verse 16 – “But if I am doing what I do not desire to do, I agree with the law that it is good.”

“For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.” – verse 22.

“I thank God ─ through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.” – verse 25.

A brother to our Lord Jesus, the Apostle James says, “If you fulfill the royal law according to the Scriptures, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself,’ you do well; 9) but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10) For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” – James 2:8-10.

“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4) He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, IS A LIAR, and the truth is not in him.” – 1 John 2:3-4.

So, GRACE is being granted forgiveness of our past sins – our past transgressions against GOD’S TEN COMMANDMENTS!

Simply put ─ grace is the LORD God’s mercy due to an individual repenting of breaking God’s Law. Sin is the breaking of God’s Law. God’s Law is God’s Way. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the perfect example as to how to live within His Law.

When you think of GRACE ─ think of Christ Jesus! □
